Hodie
Poet/Lyricist:
The opening unison chant is first contrasted by vigorous rhythmic sections, then developed with masterful weaving of the vocal line. A must for outstanding treble choirs. - Santa Barbara Music Publishing web site.
NEW FOR 2017: SSATBB voicing!
I had the great privilege of attending the 2011 Cantemus International Choral Festival in Nyíregyháza, Hungary. Festival Director Denes Szabo is renowned throughout Europe for his award winning girls choirs. I had the immense pleasure of observing him teach a conducting master class and of hearing the Cantemus Pro Musica Girls Choir perform "Hodie" several times during the festival. This piece had been a personal favorite of mine for years, but I had never heard it sung with such power and beauty. - Joan Szymko
