Text

Remembering

Joan Borysenko

In the secret recesses of the heart

beyond the teachings of this world

calls a still small voice

singing a song unchanged

from the foundation of the world.

Speak to me in sunsets and in starlight.

Speak to me in the eyes of a child.

You. Who call from a smile,

My cosmic beloved

Tell who I am and who I always will be.

Help me to remember

that I am both the singer and the song.

Reviews:

"Joan wrote a beautiful 4-part choral setting of gorgeous text for the Phoenix Chorale to sing at this world premier. Cello & oboe added to the heartfelt rendition dedicated to our parents. We love you and thank you, Joan. You are a very special and most talented spirit on this planet." — Claudia Kennedy, commissioning patron of Phoenix Chorale
